About St. Joseph's Pre-School Playgroup
Registered Charity No:1020613 (PLA No:30289)
Introduction
St. Joseph's Pre-School Playgroup was founded in 1981 and was primarily set up to cater for Catholic families in the parish of St. Joseph's, Redhill and subsequently has grown to cover the parishes of Holy Family, Reigate and St Teresa’s, Merstham. Children usually start with us just before they turn three years old.
Our aim is to provide high quality care and education of children primarily under statutory school age. We recognise and welcome the right of parents to take responsibility for and to become involved in our activities, to be kept informed and consulted. We seek to actively encourage partnership between parent and playgroup, helping us to shape the service we offer.
Children are taught a belief in God, with worship, prayer and example on a daily basis. We also look at other cultures and beliefs as part of our curriculum. We like to see caring, friendship, good manners, smiles, co-operation and respect for others.
Whilst we welcome any child regardless of family status, disability, ethnic origin, culture and religion or belief, our admissions procedure gives priority to baptised Roman Catholic children (see Admissions Criteria).
The playgroup is housed in the parish centre next to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ladbroke Road, Redhill. As well as having its dedicated playgroup room and separate activity room, we have use of the parish hall and a fenced outside play area. Ample car parking is available on site for the dropping off and collection of children.
If you wish to visit the playgroup at any time, please arrange this by telephoning the playgroup during the morning sessions. Playgroup telephone no: 01737 772334.
Committee
St. Joseph's Pre-School Playgroup is a registered charity. We are OFSTED registered and a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance (PLA).
The pre-school is managed by a voluntary Parent Management Committee. In accordance with our Constitution members are elected by the parents of the children who attend the St Joseph’s pre-school at our Annual General Meeting each year.
The Committee is responsible ensuring that the setting works in partnership with the children’s parents and that the group runs in accordance with its legal and constitutional obligations.
The committee is made up of chair, vice chair, treasurer, secretary and other elected members who meet approximately twice a term. Any parent/guardian of children attending playgroup is welcome to come along to these meetings, and to join the committee.
For more information about the Committee please contact Us.
Our Aims
Our playgroup is a place where your child will have the opportunity to:
- learn through play in a safe, stimulating environment;
- enjoy the company of other children and meet adults from outside the family;
- be in a group which values everyone, whatever their sex, age, race or cultural background, and also whether or not they have disabilities;
- develop at his/her own pace with plenty of adult support following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS);
- grow in self confidence and gain independence.
We meet at the following times, at St Joseph’s Parish Hall, Redhill:
Monday - Friday :
|
09.15 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.
12.15 p.m. - 14.45 p.m.
|
During their first year with us children normally start with two afternoon sessions increasing to three when available. In their pre-school year we offer up to a maximum of four morning* sessions (*for summer born children one of these sessions would usually be an afternoon.)
